Blind Devotion…

… So to speak.

At least fifty people have lost their sight in India from staring at the sun in an effort to catch sight of the Virgin Mary. Right. Apparently, the place where this has been occurring has been a hotbed of rumors for months and, yet, people still believe in it. Talk about blind devotion, now they’re literally blind to match their stupidity.

These kinds of delusions also happen regularly in the Philippines. Some con artist down in luck decides he can make a quick buck by saying one of his dolls is bleeding or crying or something like that. In fact, there’s currently one ongoing now about shadows of the Virgin Mary appearing in his cupboard, but I don’t care enough to dig out a URL for the story. When the news gets out, which isn’t too hard to do with our sensationalist media, people flock to the place, he becomes a quasi-celebrity for a few days, he can start on smaller con jobs. At the very least, asking for donations from his “devotees” or selling t-shirts.

The strange thing is, the Catholic Church will routinely debunk these claims, yet the so-called “faithful” will ignore them to catch a glimpse of a “miracle.” Thus is the success of religion, their brainwashing is so complete that exceeds even their sphere of control. Their followers just keep snowballing in their delusion. If these guys stopped to think for a second, maybe they’d see how stupid it all really is.
